Community Learning Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Learning Coordinator is responsible for organizing, delivering, and managing activities related to the community learning component of the program. The Community Learning Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that the community learning component of the program is aligned with current ACSW social work diploma program standards.
In relation to NIAB (2019), the Community Learning Coordinator is a faculty member who holds a leadership responsibility for the Coordinator administration and organization of the Program’s Community Learning components. This person facilitates the processes related to securing community learning placements. This faculty member will have community practice experience, a demonstrated commitment to social work education that is grounded within local knowledge systems, pedagogical and practice skills required to negotiate the complexities of community learning contexts, and the interpersonal skills required to compassionately support students, Community Learning Liaisons, and Community Learning Facilitators. This person will normally hold, at a minimum, an MSW education credential or assessed equivalency.
PROGRAM GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
The Community Learning Coordinator is supervised by the Department Head of Social Work Programs for daily operations related to field/community learning education organization, implementation, evaluation, and modification. The Community Learning Coordinator provides program insight into curriculum standards and ensures that program elements are rooted within Indigenous knowledge systems.
The Community Learning Coordinator ensures that students receive a wide range of supports throughout their community learning experience, such as access to traditional knowledge keepers, academic advising, and personal counselling. The Coordinator interacts directly with YTC personnel from various departments, including IT, library, and student services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
In order to maximize availability to students, community Learning Liaisons, and Community Learning Facilitators, the Community Learning Coordinator maintains regular office hours that generally coincide with regular YTC work hours. From time to time, the Community Learning Coordinator will be required to work outside of these regular hours and, therefore, maintains a flex schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Community Learning Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating with the Department Head to ensure that all aspects of community learning meet current ACSW program standards;
Identifying and securing community learning placements;
Organizing and delivering Practicum Orientation Sessions for students and Community Learning Liaisons/Facilitators;
Supporting students and field supervisors with the completion of required practicum documents;
Engaging and supporting students throughout the duration of community learning;
Maintaining regular contact with students and field supervisors through a variety of methods, including site visits;
Developing and delivering professional development workshops for Community Learning Liaisons/Facilitators;
Developing and submitting monthly community learning reports to the Department Head; and
Collaborating with Elders and Program faculty and other staff as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master of Social Work or equivalent graduate-level degree with an undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work degree.
Professional Certification: Current Registered Social Worker (RSW) status with the Alberta College of Social Workers; and
Valid Driver’s License
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Working with Indigenous peoples, organizations and communities;
Direct social work practice at front-line, policy, or community engagement levels;
Prior experience as a Field Supervisor for students enrolled in a social work education program;
Prior experience as a Faculty Liaison for social work community learning is preferred;
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; and
Knowledge of the structural sources of social issues coupled with a commitment to social justice

Knowledge of Indigenous language and culture;
Teaching experience within adult education settings; and
Familiarity with Windows operating platforms and related software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Department Head for Indigenous Health, A Health Instructor with a Master's of Nursing background is required to teach one 3-credit course for a Yellowhead Tribal College (YTC) in the city of Edmonton in the winter 2026 semester. The name of this course is Introduction to Chronic, Infectious, and Contagious Diseases in Indigenous Communities. The candidate will create a high-quality learning environment that is inclusive of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit adult students.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Review and revise the existing course outline and submit a course outline to the department head.
Use a YTC email address, which will be used for correspondence with the department head and students.
Deliver the course curriculum to the students for 3 hours weekly.
Inform the department about any change to course delivery.
Maintain weekly attendance records in the college’s database system.
Submit periodic reports, written/and or oral, as requested by the department head.
Provide feedback and evaluations on student performance and return the assignment promptly.
Prepare, administer, and mark mid-term and final exams.
Hold regular office hours for student consultations.
Report final marks to the department head at the end of the semester, within 5 days of the final exam.
Ensure adherence to YTC College policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong knowledge of subject matter and teaching methods.
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in the relevant fields.
Demonstrate ability to communicate with students of diverse backgrounds effectively.
At least two years of previous teaching and training experience.
Available to teach during the week.
Ability to create and deliver lesson plans that engage and motivate students.

Program Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY
This Program Assistant position exists to provide administrative support to the Department Head (HD) of University and Management Studies (UMS) & the Department Head of Indigenous Languages Revitalization Degree (ILRD), the Registrar’s Office, and Student Services. The program assistant will report to both the UMS Department Head and ILRD Department Head. This support extends to office administration for all relevant departments, timetable coordination, and student support for the certificate, diploma, and degree programs. In addition to internal support, the UMS & ILRD Program Assistant will also assist in developing other partnerships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of these Department Heads, a program assistant is expected to carry out administrative tasks such as maintaining student records and departmental logistics, and assist with program and student needs as they arise. Duties include:
Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Department Heads.
Communication: Serve as a point of contact for the departments, both internally and externally. This includes answering phone calls, responding to emails, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff members.
Document Management: Maintain departmental records, including student files and other important records. Ensure that all documents are organized and easily accessible.
Student Support: Provide support to students within the departments, including answering questions, processing forms, and directing students to appropriate resources.
Instructor Support: Assist instructors with administrative tasks.
Data Management: Collect and maintain data related to departmental activities.
Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Heads to support the overall functioning of the department and the college.
QUALIFICATIONS
1-3 years of experience in a post-secondary educational setting or administrative setting.
Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is seen as an asset.
Knowledge of Indigenous language(s) and culture(s).
