Yellowhead Tribal College in Edmonton, Alberta, is looking for a Learning Strategist to join our team! This is a full-time contract position with the possibility of extension after 1 year. The Learning Strategist is responsible for helping students maximize their academic performance and educational outcomes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide learning strategies, study skills, and support to students
- Work with students with a broad range of abilities, mental health, cognitive and intellectual disabilities
- Facilitate and deliver group workshops, seminars, and courses in areas including but not limited to academic skills, effective studying and learning, and writing skills
- Design, deliver and evaluate student academic or writing capabilities based on assessments
- Provide academic and career counselling as per student needs
- Act as a resource to the College on student learning, techniques and approaches to adult cognition and learning methods
- Other duties as required
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and/or Google Apps for Education
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education, Adult Learning or related field
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of Cree, Anishinaabe or Nakota-Sioux peoples and worldviews would be an asset
