Originally from Saddle Lake First Nation, Normie's educational achievements include a diploma in Graphic Arts Administration from SAIT, a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University, and a certificate in Aboriginal Leadership, Governance, and Management Excellence from the Banff Centre.

Of her time at YTC, she states: “It’s been an exciting journey to teach in an educational setting that honours and validates Indigenous ways of knowing within mainstream curriculum”.

She urges all students to consider pursuing a post-secondary education.
