NEHI 111

Cree Morphology: Telling of Stories, Cree Words and Suffixes

Course details

This intermediate CREE 111 Morphology class will build on the foundation established by the prerequisite Introductory Cree 110 class. Through the age-old storytelling methodology, each student's speaking proficiency, understanding, and connection to his/her spirit will grow. Through deeper text-based analysis of their stories, songs, and group language activities and relaxed interactive class participation with one another, Elders, and language keepers, the climate will be conducive to a rich mutual learning experience. In sum, the hope is that students begin to get a glimpse into the genius of Creator who gave this powerful gift of nehiyawewin to nehiyawewin (Cree Nation) here on Turtle Island and that we begin to recognize the Life and Spirit in nehiyawewin and how it connects us with "All our Relations" here on Mother Earth and those who have gone ahead of us.
