Governance & Laws - Turtle Laws & Inherent Rights

Course details

This course was created to examine Anishinaabe laws and governance using the structure of the turtle. The shape of the turtle has always been used since the beginning of time to understand Creator's Laws. In this course students will be introduced to a map used by Anishinaabe people prior to the European-made maps used today. This map will help students analyze the notion of why the turtle is used to teach Creator's Laws and governance. Students are expected to learn in a classroom setting and land-based learning environment. There are no textbooks designed for this course; therefore, all lessons will be oral and visual using videos and slides.
